Quotable Sunday!

Sometimes there is nothing you can say that hasn't already been said-as the saying goes "there is nothing new under the sun"...and that's what makes the right quote at the right time particularly satisfying. Not only can it bring a little wisdom and humor to a situation, but it can also reassure you. Someone, somewhere, has already done what you are doing and lived to be quoted about it.

A huge thank you to Toni for introducing me to the fabulous idea of Quotable Sunday! Here's the plan:
~ Post a post on your blog with one or more of your favorite quotes.
~ Grab the link and then go to A Daily Dose of Toni and post it in the Mr. Linky.
~ Check back through the day and visit all the other quotes!

I think the quotes I need to hear most at the moment are those about parenting. We have been having a fantastic time with The Bean. She really was just like the other two-more trouble on the inside than out-but simply being outnumbered requires a little reassurance and humor, even if you are outnumbered by truly gentle and fantastic children.

Here are some of my very favorite parenting quotes~Enjoy!

Everyone should have kids. They are the greatest joy in the world. But they are also terrorists. You’ll realize this as soon as they are born and they start using sleep deprivation to break you.
Ray Romano

There are only two things a child will share willingly - communicable diseases and his mother's age.
Dr. Spock

Most children threaten at times to run away from home. This is the only thing that keeps some parents going.
Phyllis Diller

People who say they sleep like babies usually don't have them.
Leo J. Burke

Anyone who thinks the art of conversation is dead ought to tell a child to go to bed.
Robert Gallagher

Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing up is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing.
Phyllis Diller

Before I got married I had six theories about bringing up children; now I have six children and no theories.
John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester

The truth is that parents are not really interested in justice. They just want quiet.
Bill Cosby

Raising kids is part joy and part guerrilla warfare.
Ed Asner

By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he's wrong.
Charles Wadsworth

If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands?
Milton Berle

With kids, the days are long, but the years are short.
John Leguizamo

And, finally, one of my favorites:

I guess the real reason that my wife and I had children is the same reason that Napoleon had for invading Russia: it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Bill Cosby

Oh my god...I totally snorted out loud. We used to listen and watch Bill Cosby and his whole set about parenting is just fabulous. As kids it was funny but as a parent it's even funnier. I totally suggestion finding it to watch or listen to.

These were wonderful and a great reminder at how parenting needs to be taken a little less seriously at times.

Happy Sunday!

Great quotes! My husband and I are sitting here laughing our heads off! This one started us off:
Everyone should have kids. They are the greatest joy in the world. But they are also terrorists. You’ll realize this as soon as they are born and they start using sleep deprivation to break you.
My son so did this to me.
Thanks so much!

Isn't that the truth? And I loved the Bill Cosby one, too... ;)

Enjoy your Sunday! :)

Kekibird-Thanks for visiting! I do think that it's important to see the humor in parenting...otherwise I'd go crazy!

Becca-It's one of my favorites! Thanks for stopping by.

LT-Always glad to make people laugh! Sorry about the sleepless baby though.

Stacy (the Random Cool Chick)-I kid you not, I clean the house at night and when I get up the next morning it is a disaster in here! I don't know how they do it.

Jenny-Thanks! I'm kind of a quote junkie so I was glad to see this feature on Toni's blog!

Sissy-Humor often has a lot of truth in it...I think that's why I like it so much. Thanks for visiting!

Mimi-It's true isn't it? You get a whole new perspective on your parents once you have children yourself!
