Tell All Tuesdays:I Am Slowly Going Crazy

One two three four five six switch.

It is 5:30 in the afternoon and I am JUST NOW sitting down to do my Tell All Tuesday post. Why?

Anarchy, that's why. The kids up and lost their marbles yesterday, and we have yet to relocate them.

Monkey is doing his best emo kid impression, stomping and dragging around the house looking generally annoyed and answering every question with "I don't know". (Word to the wise-don't try to cheer him up, this only turns his sulking into a full blown fit.)

Baby Bug is running around the house finding things to throw on the ground so that she can practice saying Uh Oh (her new favorite words). She has also discovered how fun it is to rip your diaper off and pee behind/under furniture and in corners when Mommy isn't looking. Yesterday, besides the throwing and the peeing, she also somehow got a hold of a pencil sharpener and cut her thumb open. She's okay-she didn't even cry. I didn't in fact notice that she was hurt until I followed the drops of blood (the tiny drops of which were still glaringly obvious on our tan carpet).

As for The Bean, she hasn't pooped in two days. This is not abnormal for babies, and is nothing to run her to the doctor for, but certainly makes her a giant cranky pants. She is constantly waking up and wants to be held 24/7. I never thought I'd wish so hard for poop.

That's where I've been sitting for the last two days-in the middle of the living room, surrounded by crying children-one who is always on the verge of a meltdown, one who is bound and determined to hurt herself or break something, one who wants to be held night and day, and all of them seeking my undivided attention.

I need peace! I need sanity! I think I may have to run away from home! Just until their attitudes change, which they inevitably will since-despite my complaints-they are actually very good, well mannered children. Usually. When they're not making me insane. The problem really is that I haven't been able to relax in so long, I think I've forgotten how.

What do you guys do to blow off steam?

Baby Bug sounds like my Bree. She finds joy and entertainment with throwing things off of the coffee table, dining room table, and ripping her diaper off. She pooped in the living room floor today. How nice.

How do I blow off steam? I take advantage of the time I have while Bree is down for her nap. I speed through whatever house work I may have to do, and then use the remainder of my time to do whatever I want to do. Sometimes that involves watching Wife Swap on Lifetime for a couple of hours.

If you don't have time enough to chill for a few hours while the kids are napping, then maybe you can sneak in a hot shower for a few minutes. Hot showers seem to cure everything!

You just described my day to a tee!! Tonight, as I was cooking dinner, all 4 kids were crying about something and I just looked at my husband and said, "Am I clinically insane now...surely I have to be at this point".

How do I blow off steam? Well, I make sure the kids are all in bed no later than 7:30 pm and then after that it's my time to do whatever I want. I usually spend time online and/or catching up on favorite tv shows. And drinking a nice, chilled glass of wine....that always helps me unwind too!

Hope your day goes better tomorrow!

I feel for you! My daughter used to get constipated all of the time! It was insane.

I only have one and sometimes I feel like I'm losing it, so I can't imagine how it would feel with 3 kids.

My daughter doesn't nap, so I end up staying up late or going out in the evenings by myself for some time alone.

Tee hee, I remember the days of whipping off the diaper & peeing anywhere. I also had once when my supposed to be napping son took off his diaper & finger painted his wall & crip with his own poo. TMI?

To relax, I try to take a bath & read in the tub.

Samantha-Yep, that sounds about right ;) I WISH I could do something during nap time...unfortunately Monkey is too old for naptime and The Bean is too little...and Hubby works graveyards so he is asleep during the day. =( Okay, I'm just pouting now....

Helene-That is what I do when I am able to. I'll totally admit that on terrible days everyone goes to bed an hour early. (Who cares if the sun's still up?) Thanks for the happy thoughts!

Jenny-It mostly just feels like I don't sit down. Ever. Like when I crawl in bed at night (when I can make it into bed, some nights I collapse on the couch) my legs are actually sore! Still, one kid can do that to you as well...with enough practice and determination on their part LoL.

Mimi-For some reason I don't understand poo painting is common with boys. At least that's what our Ped said when Monkey did it!
