Mommy's Fabulous Birthday Friday!

Guess what?

It's my birthday! [woo]

Yep, that's right-I was born today. Well, not today (or yesterday either) but on this day way back in Ye Olden Tymes I managed through absolutely no effort of my own to come forth onto this planet-so hey, I figure why not PARTY! I certainly need it after the week I've had (don't even ask!).

I was thinking about what I should blog about on my birthday when I realized hey-it's Friday. Why not go ahead and answer my regular Fab Friday questions (since everyone I've contacted is already busy with Turkey plans anyway)? So, for those of you who asked and those of you who didn't ask but were totally about to (I can tell), here is my self interview for Fabulous Birthday Friday!

Hey, self-Happy Birthday.

Back at ya. Nice PJs.

Thanks-they were 60% off!

That's a steal! Plus, they totally make your butt look smaller.

I know, right? So, besides the fact that your butt looks hot in your new pajamas, what would you like our blog friends to know about us?

I'm not crazy-though sometimes it looks that way. Sometimes it even feels that way....but I think that's just the natural state of a woman who has three children in five years.

Totally.

As far as the basics go, I'm married to Hubby-my other half of 7 years-and we have three kidlets ages 5, 21 months, and 6 months. I stay home to unschool the kids and have just recently started working from home-but don't worry, I'm not going to try to sell you anything.

Phew-you know we don't have any money.

In my free time I love to read and knit and blog and bake and (hopefully) sleep. Oh yeah that reminds me-I just slept 6 whole hours in a row yesterday for the first time in over two and a half years!

Congratulations!

Thank you. I know we're really excited about that.

Do I need to ask you the part about where we can find our writing?

Nope, I think everybody reading this has already found it. Tell your friends!

Seriously. Now onto juicier stuff...who/what inspires you to blog?

Everything! I get ideas from articles I read, from Hubby and the kids, from my bloggy friends, from my other friends and family (even though they don't know about the blog so SHHHHH!)....whatever happens in my life. If it makes me happy or sad or excited or bored or take notice in any way I want to write about it. I just love to write, and I think that putting my thoughts down on e-paper is a great outlet for me.

So I'm sure there are a few people that are curious...writers and/or bloggers do you read regularly?

Somebody told me once that great readers make great writers, and I really hope it's true because I am a word nerd voracious reader. My true loves are the classics-like Emily Bronte, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare, Robert and Elizabeth Barret-Browning-but I love newer authors too like C.S. Lewis, George Orwell, Michael Crichton, Lucy Maud Montgomery, John Galsworthy, Madeline L'Engle, F Scott Fitzgerald....I can't possibly list all of the authors I love!

I also read a ton of blogs and online publications....but I won't say which because I don't want anyone to think I'm playing favorites! If you'd like to see a short list of blogs I read you can take a look at my blog roll but fair warning-it hasn't been updated in approximately forever and there are a LOT of people not on there right now!

Wow, self. You've got a really big head about being all literary and crap.

What? I like those authors. I actually own their books!

Whatever, snob.

Fine, scratch all that-I read Archie comics all day every day.

Much cooler.

So we've established that we are total geeks about reading, what do you plan to do in the future as far as writing goes?

Whatever I have time to do! I love blogging, and want to continue it as a way to keep a record of my life and the kid's lives. You know, something to humiliate us all later. I have also tried on many occasions to write a real book, but I think that will probably have to wait for when I have more time-and an idea that is interesting enough that I could write a whole book on the subject....so maybe never.

And now for something completely different....

Oh good! I love this part!

No way-me too! Now I'm going to ask you the questions you were going to give to the next Fab Friday winner....

What is your favorite midnight snack?

If I was good or interested in lying I'd tell you celery-instead I'm going to say New York Super Fudge Chunk ice cream....'cause it's true.

What was one of your stuffed animals' names when you were a kid?

Up until I was three all of my stuffed animals were named Bear. Luckily I've gotten more creative. When we get a cat I plan to name it Princess Pepperdoodle Von Yum Yum the Third (yes, even though it's the first) and when we get a dog it will be a teacup Yorkie named William Wallace. I think all animal's names should be either pretentious or ironic...it's funnier that way.

Who was your first crush?

Peter Schultz-Kindergarten. He was dreeeeeeeeeeamy because he had blond hair and blue eyes. I think he may have said two whole words to me the entire time we were in class together.

Do you like to sing in the shower? If so what do you sing?

Yes. I sing whatever I'm in the mood for-I sing a mean Billy Joel. I also enjoy singing songs from the Rent soundtrack, I like way The Cranberries bounce off the tile, and I sing a lot of Sting/The Police...who doesn't want to rock Roxanne in a place that echos?!

Dude, your a total weirdo.

I know.

Why not say somebody cool like.... like....

We can't think of anyone that's cool right now can we?

No.

What about Weezer, are they still cool?

I don't think so. Maybe.

Er....What about Pink? She was big a little bit ago.

Do you know any of her songs?

No.

That settles that. Plus I don't think she's cool anymore either.

Well, being cool is totally overrated-I'd rather be me than be cool!

We're not cool?

No.

But we're fun, right?

Right.

Well that rocks in it's own right.

TOTALLY.

Happy birthday to me!! Now it's time for me to get some beauty sleep...thankfully I keep getting older every year, so I'm going to need it ;)

This post made me giggle...ALOT! I definitely think that giving dogs real people names instead of names like Rover and Charlie and Spot...makes it funnier. I have a dog named Rainey (named after Morton Rainey from Secret Window), I had a dog named Bradley, and a Beagle named Hank.

Happy Birthday to you! Our birthdays are only a little more than week a part! How cool is that?!

I hope it's a good one!

Happy Birthday doll!

You know, I'm kinda glad to hear I'm not the only one that has somewhat strange conversations with myself.

and glad you found butt enhancing PJ- those are never actually marked on the rack (why?) making them uber hard to spot a mile away.
