Mommy's Fabulous Find Friday: Shanna from My Favorite Everything

It's Friday and it's time once again for Fab Find Friday. I've been trying for weeks to get someone to agree to be interviewed, but I think that everyone is just as busy as I am with the holidays coming up and all....so imagine how excited I was when Shanna from My Favorite Everything answered my Tweet and became this weeks Fab Find Friday featured follower!

Let's all get to know Shanna a little better, shall we?

So Shanna, tell us about yourself ...
I'm crazy (aren't we all!?!?) I live in Orange County California with my very cool husband, and 2 Littles - Addie 20 mos and Hayden 9 mos. I'm constantly asking, What happened to my life??

Kids happened, and an office job stopped happening. And now I’m a full time mom, trying my very best to keep it all in balance…..be a great mom, fabulous wife, have a career, personal chef to our family, errand girl, housekeeper, overall CEO, COO, and Executive Assistant of the household.

In the past 3 1/2 years:

I’ve gotten engaged, planned a destination wedding, had 2 babies 11 months apart, purchased and remodeled a house in 3 months (that most say previously looked like a meth lab), sweat equity style with my fabulously talented husband, and served Thanksgiving dinner 2 days after moving in, pregnant and with an 8 month old….oh, and worked full time on a resort project that was installing at the exact same time.

In the past few months:

I have flown on 15 planes with 2 children, 15 months and under, and adjusted sleep schedules in 3 time zones.

I’m certainly not perfect, and I really don’t know best, and I REALLY am not a fabulous cook (that title is reserved for my mom and dad – both rock the kitchen) I’ve just learned to fake it well over the years. But I AM organized (or used to be pre-kids). So I thought it might be fun to start a blog giving tips and on ways to make life a little easier. My site is not designed to be the end all be all, it’s just favorites that you may or may not find helpful, but always has my honest opinion.

Wow, you sound super busy! And kids 11 months apart? Younger two are just shy of 15 months apart and I totally rip my hair out over their schedules sometimes! If you have tips to be organized, of course everyone wants to know where we can find your writing...

Curious minds want to know-who and/or what inspires you to blog?
Every single thing that I do with my family every single day. It's a blessing and a curse I'm sure, but I can't keep my big mouth shut, or my little brain turned off. I love to give advice (whether you want it or not...) but often it's wanted. I wrote a post last Friday about a typical week for me, "My Life in a Nutshell" ~ http://www.myfavoriteeverything.com/2009/family/my-week-in-an-nutshell/ and it really is what a real week is like for me. Friends and family are always asking where I bought something, how to do something, what to make for something. And truthfully, when I've figured out how to do something, or where to get something, or have just bought something I think is incredible - I want to tell the WORLD about it...in my head I want everyone to get to benefit! No need to hold in the secret! If you figured out how to lose 15 lbs while you were sleeping, wouldn't you want to tell every single stinking person you know!! (I have not found that one yet, BTW, in fact with being pregnant 3 years straight I seem to gain that over night, but I wont write about that - it's NOT my favorite thing!)

What are your future plans for your writing/blog?
To keep writing! Still trying to figure out how I'll do that after #3 arrives in March, but there will be a way. I don't really need all 4 hours of sleep I'm getting, I could cut down to 3 hours...and Pete's Major Dickason coffee REALLY is good!

And now, for something completely different.......
Who is your favorite artist? (Could be paint or music or theater...anything you consider art)
Hmmm, right now it's probably Addie, my almost 20 month old Little...she LOVES her crayons, and LOVES our wainscoting! (and I LOVE the Magic Eraser to get it all off again!!) But very often you'll find Dave Matthews playing in our home....I just love his voice and love when he does songs with others. I recently TIVOed his concert with Tim Reynolds and play it quite often when I'm sitting back popping bon-bons...ok, maybe not the bon-bon part, but Dave Matthews is a fixture in the house.


Which is better-mint chocolate or white chocolate?
Have to say Mint Chocolate. For sure I would have said Peanut Butter Chocolate, but mint is a close second....Maybe a nice tall mint chip milkshake freshly spun on a hot Southern California Day - Perfect!


If you had to pick one, what would your favorite word be and why?
"BRILLIANT!" I think I use it all the time now. I'm so delirious from lack of sleep that every time I think I have a great idea, I start shouting out "BRILLIANT" as though to convince myself and my Littles that I really do have a great idea.


What is your favorite character from a kid's show/movie?
Addie is just now getting into TV and movies, and I've seen more "Little Bear" and "Jacks" than any sane person should...I think my favorite character is actually from a book, "Eloise"
Do you know her ?? I feel like her sometimes and wish I could go prancing and playing around the Plaza Hotel!!
