After Midnight Musings-I'm Teething

It is 2am.

All three of the kidlets are asleep.

I, on the other hand, am awake.

All four of my wisdom teeth are impacted.

All four of my second molars have consequently twisted and turned into freakish, unnatural positions.

There is searing, stabbing, burning, radiating, pulsing pain in my entire head.

I have taken 1000mg of Tylenol.

I have slathered half a tube of Orajel in my mouth.

Nothing.

I now sympathize with the kids.

I desperately want to lay on the floor and shriek at the top of my lungs until someone-anyone-stops the pain.

Instead I blog my complaint like the grown up I don't want to be at the moment and settle in for the long haul.

Our insurance does not cover dental.

Until 2011.

If these teeth keep it up I will take them out myself.

OMG my SITSta I FEEL YA! I've got the worst enamel EVER!! And I've never smoked a day in my life, brush and floss like I have OCD, and only drink coffee (okay so I live on coffee.. but I'm the SAHM of four!! beat ya111).. so WHY ME!! And I'd rather face a fireing squad then go to the dentist! I did DRUG FREE child birth but that dentist chair FORGET IT. So I let it get to the point I can't take anymore and go in for sedation dental work. SAD huh? So I'm sending some feel better, get rest or spike that coffee with a little hooch vibes your way.

I'm SO sorry!! I feel your pain on that....I remember when I finally got mine out and it was the scariest/best feeling ever....I don't understand the purpose of wisdom teeth besides to remind us that our kids are in pain when the cut them lol...

oh no! that totally sucks, i had one that started hurting, went to the dentist, and he said, lets go ahead and take out all of them, even though they weren't hurting. i was in enough pain with just one, i can't imagine all four!

I'm stopping by from SITS. I like your blog design!

Ow! I'm sorry to hear about your teeth...you're right. Now you have first hand experience of what our kids go through. :( I hope this gets better fast.

OH my WORD! You poor thing! Does this just happen and then go away for a while? Or are you going to feel this way until the are out? I remember "teething" before I had my wisdom teeth out (they were impacted too) but nowhere near the pain you describe. You poor, poor thing. Can you get Medicaid or something???
Tooth pain is simply the worst.

DiPaola Momma-I know what you mean! I can handle any pain from the neck down. I had my gallbladder removed and after surgery I didn't take anything more than a Tylenol. I've had three kids, one natural labor, I've passed gallstones, I've had meningitis and I've recovered from all just by popping some Tylenol...toothaches still SUCK BAD.

Kris-I am not looking forward to having them out...just the idea gives me the willies! But I'll be glad when the pain is gone for good.

Valentine-I'm glad you didn't have to suffer for too long!

MamaBub-Thanks for your sympathies. I'll totally live through it.

Jenny-Well, at the moment I am alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen every 3 hours, plus like half a tube of Orajel a day. That seems to take the pain down to the level where I can drink warm water, eat mushy/liquid foods (as long as they're bland), and sleep for an hour or two until the meds wear off and I have to wait until it's time to take the next pill. We'll see how long that will last me.

Greta-Thank you for your sympathy, and for stopping by!

Kirsty-It's been happening for a couple days about once a month, but this week I've had two separate occasions like this. Blech. Medicaid wouldn't work for us, but I am calling around to get the lowest quote I can. Then we'll just have to save our pennies for tooth extraction instead of electronic goodies. =(

Ouch!!!

I guess at times like this we can appreciate what our poor babies go through.

I hope you get some relief soon!
